Are you eligible in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)?
You must be eligible in DEERS to qualify for TRICARE For Life. If you are not sure if you are eligible, please call DEERS at (800) 538-9552.
How do I get started with TFL?
Getting started in the TRICARE For Life (TFL) program is easy. You do not have to submit any forms or complete any paperwork. You will be automatically enrolled if:
- You are already TRICARE eligible according to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
- You have purchased Medicare Part B.
You do not pay an enrollment fee for TFL. However, you must purchase Medicare Part B to be eligible for the TFL medical benefit. You do pay a monthly fee—deducted from your monthly Social Security payment—for Medicare Part B.
To find out more about your Medicare eligibility, fees, etc., please visit your local Social Security Office or go to Medicare.
Will I need a card?
We do not issue a card when you become TFL eligible. The only card you may need to show providers is your valid military identification card. If you do not have a military ID card or your ID card has expired, please contact DEERS at (800) 538-9552 to renew your card.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your DEERS enrollment and eligibility information you have several options for contacting them...
